The objective of Blackjack was probably best described in the title of Edward O Thorp’s book: Beat the Dealer! Blackjack is played with one, two, four, six or eight decks. Some casinos use a special machine for shuffling the cards. In single and double deck games the dealer holds the cards in his hands and deals them himself. In multi-deck games the cards are dealt using so-called 'shoes’. If the total of your cards is higher than the dealer's cards, without going over 21, you win. However, if your cards have a value of 22 or above you're "busted" and you automatically lose. Blackjack is played on a special, half round table. There is a special circle for each player. If you would like to participate, then you first have to buy chips from the dealer or take them with you from your previous table. Makes sure to place your bets right in front of you.. Only chips that are placed in the betting circle count as met. The game begins after all bets have been placed. |
